Welcome! The membership of the Graland Parent Association (GPA) includes all parents and guardians of current Graland students and is dedicated to the support of the school's programs through volunteerism and fund raising. The GPA works with the school to promote an effective and constructive partnership between home and school for the well-being of our children. We encourage and invite your involvement. We believe that students benefit immeasurably from the active participation of parents and families in the life of the school.
The GPA is self-supporting and raises funds for projects and programs identified in consultation with the school. The overall success of the GPA depends upon its volunteers who participate in many ways. The benefits of the work of the GPA accrue to the school, the faculty, the children, and to the health, strength and happiness of our families and the Graland community.
MISSION
The purpose of the Graland Parent Association is to support Graland Country Day School in achieving its mission, to work in partnership with the school to foster community, to promote volunteerism, and to raise funds for the benefit of the school community.
MEMBERSHIP
All parents and legal guardians of currently enrolled Graland students are members of the GPA and are encouraged to contribute their time and skills, attend functions and participate in GPA fundraising and volunteer activities.
MEETINGS
All parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend the Parent Association meetings held at various times throughout the school year. To be respectful of your time, meetings are often scheduled in conjunction with parent education events or other school activities. Meetings are listed on the Graland calendar.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee of the GPA is composed of the officers indicated on the committee list in the following section of this website. This committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE POSITIONS
All parents are invited to make nominations for Executive Committee positions in January of each year. The Nominating Committee, which is made up of the Nominating Chair, three members-at-large, and the current president and president-elect of the GPA, then presents a slate of candidates to every member of the Parent Association. The officers, officers-elect and other executive committee members are then elected by a simple majority vote on written ballot by the members of the GPA. Most positions are for one year, although the incumbent may be asked or request to continue for an additional year. Executive Committee meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. All parents are welcome to attend.
