Years at Graland:  11
Why did you choose Graland? Our family has a long history and relationship with Graland- both my husband and I are alumni as are our siblings and extended family members. We looked for a school that combined a tradition of academic excellence and a commitment to social emotional growth combining the best of Graland's traditions and cutting edge educational theory and practice. You can see this operationalized in the resources and opportunities available to students and educators on campus, and the sense of connection between students and teachers on a relatively intimate campus.
Grades: 2, 7 & Graland Graduate
What are some of your child(ren)'s interests & extracurricular activities? dance, karate, skiing, volleyball, basketball, art, STEM, equestrian, swimming
Tell us some fun facts about you and/or your family: My husband and I are both Graland alumni and this is the only year when all three of our daughters will attend the same school. Our kitchen is the center of the house and the site of strange and amazing science experiments, model rocket construction and other engineering projects (guillotines and trebuchets), and spectacular arts and crafts, family jigsaw puzzles and legos.  We have a very large extended family here in Denver and we spend a lot of time with them including their participation in many of these crazy "kitchen table" activities.  In fact, our children's interests drive many of our family activities. For example, my girls' passion for horses drove me to take riding lessons as well so that we can ride together, and the girls' love for skiing encouraged my husband to start skiing again after almost 15 years. Our oldest daughter was SCUBA certified through a Graland program (TIDES) so three more of us are becoming certified too.  We have a sheepadoodle named Luna, two sugar-gliders named Zoey and Opal, and salt-water fish tanks in every bedroom.
