A Royal Visit: Exploring the Importance of 10 in Kindergarten Mathematics

Excitement fills the air as Kindergarten students anticipate the arrival of the Queen of 10, who graces Graland’s halls every tenth day of school to share her wisdom and guide young minds through the enchanting world of mathematics.
Dressed in regal attire, Associate Head of Lower School Parthenia Williams transforms into the Queen of 10, visiting every Kindergarten classroom to unveil the significance of the number 10 and its role in essential math concepts. According to Kindergarten teacher Helen Valiant, "10 is the most important number in Kindergarten. Understanding 10 is crucial as young mathematicians explore greater numbers."

Each tenth day of school, students celebrate their mathematical journey with the Queen of 10, fostering a flexible and fluid understanding of adding and subtracting numbers up to 10. As the year progresses, Drama Teacher Dan O'Neill joins the festivities as the King of 50, partnering with the Queen to delve even deeper into mathematical concepts.

We're incredibly proud of our Kindergarten mathematicians and can't wait to see their growth throughout the year. Keep up the fantastic work, and here's to many more visits from our royal mathematicians!
