This January, in math class with Ms. Amy St. John, fourth graders designed fraction games to review fraction concepts before a test.
Working in small groups, students created games that challenged players to compare and order fractions, work with mixed and improper fractions, solve fraction problems connected to real-world situations, and more. As they designed their games, students thought carefully about how rules, questions, and gameplay could help others learn.
Before the test, classes came together for a game day, giving students the chance to play one another’s games and review fraction concepts in a fun way.
