Grades 7/8: Student Council Showcases the World
Student leaders in the Grades 7/8 Student Council made their mark on the Anschutz Commons and made a statement about diversity at Graland. With an idea from council advisor Camille James, who is from Jamaica, students hung flags from 80 countries that represent the different heritages of our families and faculty. Working with the International Families Affinity Group, students wanted to show Graland’s dedication to diversity and to expand our cultural and world knowledge, according to council co-president Rachel Colson.

Once a few more flags are added, all 90 world countries with connections to Graland will be visible, including Russia, Japan, Israel, Argentina and, of course, Jamaica.
“We are proud of this project because the flags will stay hanging and impact our community for many years,” shares class representative Darian Smith.
