Family Events and Activities

Social events throughout the year invite families to share experiences and develop ties within the Graland community. A few examples include:

Graland Gallop
Each fall Graland families and friends gather in Washington Park to celebrate the new school year with the Graland Gallop, a 5K run/walk/wheelchair race for participants of all ages.

Donuts with Dads and Special Friends
A special before-school activity for dads or special friends and their children! Graland dads mingle with old friends, make new ones and start the day off right with their students.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
This much anticipated day at Graland recognizes the important role that grandparents play in their grandchildren's lives. Grandparents are invited to campus for an opportunity to meet school administrators, visit classrooms and enjoy entertainment by students.

Volunteering at Metro Caring
Graland families volunteer together for Metro Caring, a local hunger-prevention organization, restocking shelves, sorting food donations and providing nutritional guidelines to market shoppers.

Celebration of Cultures Family Dinner
A community-wide event, every Graland family, teacher and staff member is invited. A casual, potluck-style dinner as families discover cultures from around the world through new tastes presented by Graland families.

Movies and Speakers for Parents and Students
An all-school picnic is part of our annual Lower School Movie Night and Middle School Karoake Night. Other family programming includes bringing in speakers like Justin Bachman, an inspiring 18-year-old with Tourette’s syndrome, to seeing movies like Screenagers.
