Parent Events and Programs

Both the School and the Graland Parent Association (GPA) offer opportunities for parents to continue learning, growing and engaging with each other. A wide array of volunteer opportunities also bring parents together.

Back to School Nights
Each fall, the School invites parents to hear from administrators, visit their child's classroom and learn from teachers what they can expect in the upcoming year at Graland.

Parent Education Network (PEN)
A program of the GPA, PEN brings dynamic speakers to campus and shares news about other local parenting workshops. The group also works with our Head of School to select a pertinent book to read and later discuss together.

Affinity Groups
As defined by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), affinity groups are “a bringing together of people who have something important in common (race, gender, profession or special interest, etc.).” Our goal is to cultivate community, identify issues and generate discussion through group environments in which Graland parents share experiences, learn from one another and strengthen their community ties. Examples of affinity groups include: Parents of Students of Color, International Families, Dads' Basketball League, Mindfulness and more.

Social Opportunities for Parents
The GPA holds a few adults-only events each year, including the Birch Street Bash, a purely social event to celebrate the parents, faculty, staff and others who comprise the Graland community, and the Eagle Invitational Golf Tournament, a scramble tournament filled with fun and surprises.

Wellness Coffees and Grade Level Discussions
Parents are invited periodically to join Graland's wellness teacher and counselors for Wellness Coffees and the Lower and Middle School Heads for Grade Level Discussions on specific areas of child development.
