Henry Toll continues. . .

“The next September 1925, the school reopened in the shop on Colfax, but shortly afterward it moved to the small house which is still to be seen at 773 Franklin Street. It was almost a playhouse, and when I paced it off the other day, I found that it is a bare 15 feet wide. It is brick, now painted white, but in those days it was known as ‘the little green house.’

“The school developed on the principle of the add-a-pearl-necklace; the original dozen little kindergartners carried on as the first grade, while their dozen new counterparts succeeded them as the new kindergarten During their first summer vacation, Miss Laird and Miss Braswell recruited  the assistance of Miss Hilda Holcomb, and everyone who was associated with these three still has a warm place  for them in his or her heart.

"The fall of 1926 brought another move for the new school: 1012 Pennsylvania Street. To quote Mrs. Gorham: "It was soon obvious that the house was too small for so many, and arrangements were made to move. . . This building which no longer exists, was a roomy three-story fine old Denver home with a large screened porch and ample grounds.'

"However, there was bad news on the horizon. “The organizers of the school learned that to administer and teach was too much. They felt it impossible to continue and called a meeting of the parents to so inform them. The parents were unwilling to face the prospect of having the school close. They urged the teachers to carry on their work with the children while they organized a Board of Directors, found an administrator, and assumed the financial responsibility of maintaining the school. The founders were only too happy to relinquish all business affairs and to concentrate on teaching.
