Impacting Students
I enjoy teaching a lesson about different families and how all families look differently and are celebrated. We read the book, A Family is a Family is a Family, and do an activity answering the prompt, “My family is special because . . .” This lesson makes students feel comfortable and proud to share about their families no matter how they look.

Lifelong Learner
The Responsive Classroom Advanced Course was a good reminder of many of the basic practices of Responsive Classroom. I was also introduced to new concepts. I have integrated different activities into my morning/closing meeting routine, academic choice has also been a focus and I have also began using role-playing in the classroom.

Favorite Teaching Moment
My first passion is building relationships with students and co-workers. My favorite experience has been seeing students come into the classroom as beginning readers and seeing all their growth at the end of the year as they are reading and writing confidently. I love to see the look on their faces when something clicks for them!

Life Goals
Travel to Hawaii and Sweden; run 10K races outside of Colorado

Fun Fact
I grew up on a pig farm and was in 4-H (a youth development organization that instills leadership skills).
