Impacting Students
I like any part of our Gas Laws/Phase Change unit, since it has all kinds of "Chem Demos" and lets students do active, hands on labs. It is fun for them to see an unexpected result, and then they have to use their knowledge base from my class to explain it.

Lifelong Learner
I went to the Picademy course and I learned so much about coding and how to lead a coding club. I also am learning about being a team leader.

Favorite Teaching Moment
Any moment when a kid connects something they learned in my class to an experience or phenomenon they have experienced in their day to day life. I love seeing it click and the light bulb turn on.

Science Fact of the Day
Did you know you the world's largest bell jar is an old nuclear test facility in Ohio? Engineers can pump out all but 2 grams of air from a building 122 feet tall with a 100 foot diameter. It has been used to test aircraft and to prove Galileo's assertion that a feather and a hammer would fall at the same rate in a vacuum.

Feels Rewarded When…
Kids come back to tell me they knew something in high school science already.

Life Goal
Hike the Pacific Crest Trail

Fun Fact
I took my wife's last name when we married.
