Grade 5: Actors Stage Third Grader's Original Play

“Places, everyone!” Fifth grade actors are staging a reading of the original play, School of Pop, written by our resident playwright, Gabriella Glyphis (3)! After seeing School of Rocklast summer, Gabriella was inspired to develop a similar story about a girl named Summer, played by Lauren Warot and Mia Terrazas (5), who convinces her class to enter a talent contest.

Gabriella not only wrote the play, she is acting as director along with teacher Julie Lachance. “Gabriella helped hold auditions to cast the play and has given us some great ideas for character work and staging,” says Ms. Lachance. Several rehearsals included practice with transitions, blocking and dialogue in advance of the March 20 reading for Gabriella’s classmates in Ms. Sheehan’s room. Break a leg, everyone!
