Impacting Students
Any lesson that has to do with social/emotional learning and awareness. Filling buckets is a great one. It really sticks with the children and they use the terminology often. “He filled my bucket when...” “You are filling my bucket!” “You are dipping into my bucket.” It teaches children a way to learn how their actions have consequences - good or not so good.

Lifelong Learner
We had a training from Sara Flansburg on Pyramid Plus. We talked about different ways to do things such as reframing our thinking and shared ways we react to behavior. Sharing ideas with each other was beneficial so we can try different ways to handle classroom situations.

Favorite Teaching Moment
I did a lesson where I modeled a behavior and the children went over to the sign that describes how they would feel if that happened to them. Then I had one or two children explain why they would feel that way. It was really interesting to hear their perspectives. I learned something that day.

Thoughts on Teaching
Children are amazing little beings. I love watching the growth they make in one year. I also love experiencing things through them in a way I haven't experienced it myself. My goal is to have a true “learning through play” classroom. Interrupting children's play to bring them to a table to teach them what they're already doing seems counterintuitive. They need to take risks, touch more things, have more experiences. This gives them confidence.

Life Goal
Travel to New Zealand.

Favorite Childhood Memory
Going hiking in the mountains with my dad and two sisters.
