Impacting Students A lesson that creates the biggest impact on my class focuses on good sportsmanship and creating a positive classroom environment. Students used their thinking and collaboration skills to identify appropriate conflict resolution strategies to use during conflicts that arise in P.E. class. This lesson is helpful to resolve conflicts during other times such as unstructured play and academic time. My passion is teaching social-emotional development and creative problem solving.
Lifelong Learner I participated in a professional development training that transformed the way I think about questions and how I ask questions to my students. I now consider the phrases I use and if I am using higher order thinking skills when asking these questions. I was unaware of the impact of Bloom’s Taxonomy for early education. Every day I focus on reading about different strategies and skills that will benefit me in the classroom.
Favorite Teaching Moment When I explained to a student that I was in school to become a teacher and that I was almost finished with school. I helped him with a math problem and he looked up at me and told me, “You’re already ready to become a teacher.”
Fun Fact Last year, I won a scholarship to go to the Amazon Rainforest in Peru and learn about STEM and project-based learning for elementary students.
Favorite Sport My favorite sport to watch, play and teach is soccer.
