Preschool: How to Love the Earth

All month long, Graland preschoolers learned how they can protect and love our planet. To accomplish this, ECLC Teacher Sara Flansburg and her class busily read fun Earth Day books, constructed hats out of recycled newspaper, built creations, like boats and jewelry boxes, out of reusable cardboard, and made art out of plastic water bottles, cups, and other recyclable materials.
According to Ms. Flansburg, teaching preschoolers about Earth Day is important because, “it forms how they will think going forward, and when they learn from a young age it becomes who they are and how they see the world. Learning about something beyond yourself is important. Even 3- and 4-year-olds can make a difference.”

Take a look at some of the heartwarming insights that the preschoolers had this Earth Day:

What do you love about the earth?:

Libby: So many good things come from the earth. Like books come from trees!

Max: I love the earth because it gives us clean water and allows us to breathe good.

Bennett: I love that it’s our home!

Emma: The earth gives us fresh air, good food, and clean water.

Mirabelle: I love that earth protects us and that it’s our home.

What have you learned about taking care of the earth?

Michaela: We can love the earth by reducing, reusing, and recycling!

Kian: I learned that we need to take care of the earth so that it looks beautiful from outer space!

Sosi: We need to protect our earth from trash.

Aria: I didn’t know that you could protect the earth by making inventions out of trash and reusing.
