ECLC: Bringing Spring Joy Into Winter

Inspired by the book “Paperwhites,” by Nancy Elizabeth, ECLC students have been bringing “a little bit of spring into winter” this January. After hearing the story of a small bunny who plants paperwhite bulbs with her senior neighborhood, ECLC students learned how to plant their own flowers with Library Coordinator Mrs. Meyers.
To start, Mrs. Meyers showed the students pictures of flowers that grow from bulbs and discussed various ways to plant them. The ECLC students then sprung into action, planting their own paperwhite bulbs in jars that will be kept in the library as they grow. Mrs. Meyers shared that she chose this lesson because “it brings a bit of spring joy into the early, dark nights of winter.” Way to grow, ECLC!
