Grade 1: A Musical Performance

On Thursday, February 16, Grade 1 students invited their parents on campus for a special performance they have been working on in music class.
According to their teacher, Mr. Miera, “In preparation for this show, the Grade 1 students developed both music and interpersonal skills. They read rhythm patterns, memorized lyrics, and learned to dance with partners and in groups. All of these music skills rely on children looking and listening to each other to keep the beat and each other safe.” When asked what he hopes the first graders gained from this experience, Mr. Miera said, “It can be both exciting and nerve-wracking for students to perform in front of a crowd because we can only practice that skill with the audience in the theater. Fortunately, the first graders performed with a large group of peers, and having 72 friends to sing with can help with remembering forgotten lyrics and building confidence through camaraderie!” Bravo, Grade 1!
