ECLC: No Cloudy Days in Preschool

The unit started with art and literacy as students read the book "It Looks Like Spilt Milk," painted symmetrical clouds, and depicted in their journals what they like to do on a rainy day. Utilizing math and fine motor skills, preschoolers decorated large paper umbrellas with patterns and used droppers to count how many “raindrops” a cloud cutout could hold. In addition, students discussed as a class what causes bad weather and how they can protect themselves from it. They were challenged to build a structure that would protect a small bear from wind and rain and had fun testing their designs by blowing on them and creating rain with droppers. You might have heard that Ms. Flansburg made it rain in the classroom using an ice-covered cookie sheet and heat when teaching about evaporation and precipitation! But not to worry, there is only sunshine forecasted in ECLC.
