Grade 1: A Mountain of Pasta

First grade readers finished their "Read to Feed" promotion this month when they collected thousands of noodles for Capitol Hill Community Services. For each 15 minutes of reading students completed at home, parents gave a box or bag of pasta.
First grade readers finished their "Read to Feed" promotion this month when they collected thousands of noodles for Capitol Hill Community Services. For each 15 minutes of reading students completed at home, parents gave a box or bag of pasta.

All the fettucine, rotini, elbow macaroni and spaghetti will feed the hungry and homeless at the downtown soup kitchen where our sixth graders serve on Fridays. The total for four Grade 1 classes is 1,396 containers of pasta.

Congratulations to students for their dedication to reading and their commitment to helping others!
