"It's a really big honor to win this award," Clara shared. "Ms. Naughton helped me figure out the textures and improve the piece. I like knowing other people appreciate my art."

Julie Marwan drew on her interest in history to create her block print of a typewriter. "I wanted to use a design that was more complex to make it more interesting," she says.

Winners in the art contest will attend an awards ceremony on March 11 at the History Colorado Center after which the Gold Key pieces will be submitted in the national competition. All winning artists have their works on display at the History Colorado Center (1200 Broadway) from February 17-March 24.

Congratulations to all our artists who entered the contest -- you make us very proud!
