GEORGIA NELSON'S KINDNESS

Philip William Hickey
According to Katie Dodge after her youngest child’s first year at Graland, she found she could no longer afford the tuition. Georgia Nelson told Mrs. Dodge, “You are going to continue to send him here, and you will come and work in the library.” Katie did; she returned to school and received her M.A, in LIbrary Science.

Katie became the first full-time librarian at the school in 1956 and served in that position until 1988, In my series about my favorite places on this campus, you will be reading about the “old” Graland library on Wednesday,

It is always gratifying to hear stories about Miss Nelson. What a remarkable woman she was!
