6.Mr. Comfort established an administrative team that “determined policy, staffing, and curriculum.”As the numbers of students increased, the Admissions Office hired a director of testing, Ludmila Glasscock who had been the Head of the Primary School.
7.Douglas Kelley was appointed as the first Development Director (called Officer at that time).
8.The Georgia Nelson Building had a facelift which included the construction of the beloved Little Theatre and an art room.
8. In 1974 the school received accreditation from the State Board of Education.
9. In 1975 the Math Department included computer instruction as part of its curriculum.
10. After Mr. Comfort announced his intention to retire, he remained for one more year so that he could help the school find his successor.
11. One of Mr. Comfort’s pronounced goals during his years at Graland was “to retain the school’s strong concern with individual students.” To him, it was integral to the success of the school that Georgia Nelson’s influence would remain a part of the fabric of this institution. “Sparked by Miss Nelson’s genius,” Mr. Comfort, among many others whose names we hold dear, “carried forward her vision (and) her attitude toward learning.”
