Head of Middle School, with Graland since 2017
In a nutshell
Marti is responsible for creating a safe space for students to explore their interests, develop their talents and begin the journey of who they are to become. “My job is to ensure the health and well-being of the middle school community, including the students, faculty and families.”
Began her career teaching sixth graders and along the way earned a master’s degree in curriculum and pedagogy. Left education for six years to work in the business world in Ohio; returned to Denver and taught English to eighth graders while simultaneously working in school administration as dean of students.
Character development. “Academics are important but having a strong character is equally, if not more, important.”
A Denver native, Marti is an avid tennis player who believes that good health affects both mind and body. Staying active runs in the family; in their seventies, her dad still runs track and her mom plays tennis. Marti loves being a lifelong learner who takes healthy risks and embraces new opportunities to learn and grow.
