Oscar Gonzalez

My job
Director of Equity and Inclusivity, with Graland since 2017

In a nutshell
Oscar creates a sense of belonging and works to make sure everyone at Graland feels welcome and included. He also educates our community about issues surrounding social justice, equity and inclusion.
Career journey
Attended both public and independent schools. Seeing the disparity in opportunities, became passionate about working in education with under-resourced students. Started as a summer teacher in a program for underserved middle schoolers, went on to co-chair the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference.

Professional passion
“I always keep the students’ best interest in mind. My passion is helping others find a strong sense of identity so that they can find their full potential and discover their own passions.”

Personal side
Oscar was the first in his family to graduate from college. While a student at Northwestern University, he worked as an equipment manager for the football team and traveled with the team to stadiums across the country.
