  • Grade 8: Impact of Civil Rights Trip Shared

    Students fresh from their impactful trip to the deep South where they studied the Civil Rights movement shared their reflections at a Middle School assembly this week. Saedra Gurfinkel (8) kicked off the reflections saying, “Understanding the past helps us create a better future,” before several students described their day-to-day travels and itinerary. They discussed the sites, museums, people and places encountered during the trip, while also teaching a bit of history. Some of the topics covered included Martin Luther King Jr’s life and impact, slavery, civil disobedience and the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing.
