How to Apply

2020-21 Academic Year

Below is all the information you need about the admission process at Graland. Click “Apply Now” to begin or continue your application, to upload documents or to check your admission checklist.

Preschool / Prekindergarten

  • Join a Tour/Open House

    Visit us! Tours and Open Houses begin in September and continue through January. From February to August, tours are given by appointment. Click to register for an upcoming Open House or Lower School Tour to see our campus in action! (optional)
  • Complete Online Application - Jan. 15

    To apply, preschoolers must be 3 years old by September 1, 2020. Pre-Kindergartners must be 4 years old by September 1, 2020. Apply online.

  • Additional Required Documents - Feb. 1

    • Teacher Recommendations: If your child is/was enrolled in a school or daycare program within the past six months, a confidential teacher recommendation form is due from your child’s teacher.
    • Financial Aid: We regret that Graland is unable to offer financial aid for preschool and pre-kindergarten students.

  • Student Visit and Parent Interview - Feb. 1

    • Student Visit: Your child will participate in a short, activity-filled classroom visit with other visiting students. Student visits begin in January and can be scheduled after you’ve submitted the student’s online application.
    • Parent Interview: You will meet with an admission professional to learn more about Graland and to share your child’s individual characteristics and your aspirations for his or her education.

  • PS/PreK Admission Decisions - Mar. 3

    In accordance with Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS) admission notification guidelines, Graland will notify families about admission decisions by email and/or phone, and by regular mail.

Lower School (K-4)

  • Complete Online Application - Jan. 15

  • Additional Required Documents - Feb. 1

    • Assessments: Children applying to K-4 are required to take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI IV), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC IV or WISC V) or the Differential Abilities Scales (DAS II). These are cognitive assessments conducted by an independent, licensed psychologist. You may choose your own qualified test administrator or refer to the list of professionals who operate independently from the school and have agreed to participate in admission testing for Graland Country Day School.
    • Records: A copy of your child’s transcript* is due from his or her current school.
    • Recomendations:  Confidential teacher recommendation completed from his or her teacher.
    *No transcript needed for kindergarten.

  • Student Visit & Parent Interview - Feb. 1

    • Student Visit: Your child will enjoy an activity-filled, one-hour classroom visit (K-2) or experience a full-day schedule guided by a student buddy (Grades 3-4). Student visits begin in January and can be scheduled after you’ve submitted the student’s online application.
    • Parent Interview: You will meet with an admission professional to learn more about Graland and to share your child’s individual characteristics and your aspirations for his or her education.

  • Complete Financial Aid Application - Feb. 5

    Applicant families will be notified about financial assistance awards concurrently with notification of admission to the school.

  • K-Grade 4 Admission Decisions - Mar. 3

    In accordance with Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS) admission notification guidelines, Graland will notify families about admission decisions by email and/or phone, and by regular mail.

Middle School (Grades 5-8)

Rolling Admission

Once the regular admission deadline has passed, Graland accepts applications year-round and will work with you to complete the admission process as quickly as possible, based on space availability.

Mid-Year Admission

Graland occasionally has mid-year openings for new students during the current academic year. Please contact the Admission Office about space availability.

A Word about Kindergarten Matriculation

Graland prekindergartners must successfully complete cognitive testing and demonstrate kindergarten readiness before being offered a re-enrollment contract for the following year. For more information, please contact the admission office. 

Graland Sibling Admission

We love when siblings join our community! Applications for siblings of current Graland students are due November 15 with additional required documents due by December 15.

Graland Country Day School is a private school in Denver, Colorado, serving students in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, and middle school. Founded in Denver in 1924, Graland incorporates a rich, experiential learning approach in a traditional classroom setting, emphasizing the development of globally and socially conscious leaders who excel academically.
