How to Apply

2021-22 Academic Year

Below is all the information you need about the admission process at Graland. Click “Apply Now” to begin or continue your application, to upload documents or to check your admission checklist.

Preschool / Prekindergarten

  • Complete Online Application - Jan. 10

    To apply, preschoolers must be 3 years old by September 1, 2021. Pre-Kindergartners must be 4 years old by September 1, 2021. Apply online.

  • Additional Required Documents - Jan. 24

    • Teacher Recommendations: If your child is/was enrolled in a school or daycare program within the past six months, a confidential teacher recommendation form is due from your child’s teacher.
    • Video Requirements: For applicants to Preschool and PreK we ask for 3 short videos of the applicants doing developmentally appropriate activities in order to help us get to know them. Click here to learn more.
    • Financial Aid: We regret that Graland is unable to offer financial aid for preschool and pre-kindergarten students.

  • Student Visit and Parent Interview - Jan. 24

    • Virtual Student Visit: Your child will participate in a short, activity-filled virtual visit with other visiting students. Student visits begin in December and can be scheduled after you’ve submitted the student’s online application.
    • Virtual Parent Interview: You will meet with an admission professional to learn more about Graland and to share your child’s individual characteristics and your aspirations for his or her education.

  • PS/PreK Admission Decisions - Mar. 2

    In accordance with Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS) admission notification guidelines, Graland will notify families about admission decisions by email and/or phone, and by regular mail.

Lower School (K-4)

  • Complete Online Application - Jan. 10

  • Additional Required Documents - Jan. 24

    • Recommendations:  Confidential teacher recommendation completed from his or her teacher.
    • Records: A copy of your child’s transcript* is due from his or her current school.
    • Assessments: Children applying to kindergarten - Grade 4 will have a virtual one-on-one meeting with an admission professional or a Graland teacher to complete a grade-level assessment. 
    • Cognitive Assessment: Applicants to Grades 3 and 4 are required to take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI IV), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC IV or WISC V) or the Differential Abilities Scales (DAS II). These are cognitive assessments conducted by an independent, licensed psychologist. You may choose your own qualified test administrator or refer to the list of professionals who operate independently from the school and have agreed to participate in admission testing for Graland Country Day School. If an assessment is not able to be completed due to COVID-19 restrictions, please contact the admission office.
    • Video Requirements: For applicants to Kindergarten - Grade 2 we ask for 3 short videos of the applicants doing developmentally appropriate activities in order to help us get to know them. Click here to learn more. Children applying to Grades 3 and 4 are invited to submit a short, 1-3 minute video introducing themselves.
    *No transcript needed for kindergarten.

  • Student Visit & Parent Interview - Jan. 24

    • Virtual Student Visit: Children applying to Kindergarten-Grade 2 will enjoy a virtual group visit with other visiting students and a Graland teacher. Children applying to Grades 3-4 will get to experience a virtual “day in the life” group visit with other applying students and Graland teachers. Student visits begin in December and can be scheduled after you’ve submitted the student’s online application.
    • Virtual Parent Interview: You will meet with an admission professional to learn more about Graland and to share your child’s individual characteristics and your aspirations for his or her education.

  • Complete Financial Aid Application - Feb. 5

If an assessment is not able to be completed due to COVID-19 restrictions, please contact the admission office.

    • Virtual Student Visit: Children applying to Grades 5-8 will get to experience a virtual “day in the life” group visit with other applying students and Graland Teachers. Students will also get to enjoy a one-on-one interview with a Middle School administrator. Student interviews and visits can be scheduled after the student’s online application has been submitted.
    • Virtual Parent Interview: You will meet with an admission professional to learn more about Graland and to share your child’s individual characteristics and your aspirations for his or her education.

Rolling Admission

Once the regular admission deadline has passed, Graland accepts applications year-round and will work with you to complete the admission process as quickly as possible, based on space availability.

Mid-Year Admission

Graland occasionally has mid-year openings for new students during the current academic year. Please contact the Admission Office about space availability.

A Word about Kindergarten Matriculation

Graland prekindergartners must successfully complete cognitive testing and demonstrate kindergarten readiness before being offered a re-enrollment contract for the following year. For more information, please contact the admission office. 

Graland Sibling Admission

We love when siblings join our community! Applications for siblings of current Graland students are due November 1 with additional required documents due by December 4.
