Why did you choose Graland? We spent considerable time choosing a school for our children. We viewed this choice as a long term investment in not only education and opportunities for them, but also as one in a robust, supportive and kind community for our entire family. There is an unmatched warmth and energy to the school when you walk through the doors - the result of passionate focus from the administration, teachers, and parent community. Graland focuses on the “entire picture” when it comes to a child’s and educator’s education and ability to thrive - a critical approach in today’s complex and quickly evolving world. We were blown away with how meaningfully the school reinforces various guiding principles: agency, adaptability, empathy, curiosity and responsibility. For me personally, as a first generation immigrant, I couldn’t imagine having the opportunities that my girls will have at this school. I feel so lucky to be part of this inclusive and supportive community and to be giving our girls the promise of intellectual excellence and strong character.
Grades: Kindergarten & 1
What are some of your child(ren)'s interests & extracurricular activities? The girls are currently into biking, skiing, lacrosse and monkey bars/gymnastics when it comes to sports. They are budding chess players and avid readers. We caught our 1st grader reading one of my favorite childhood books, Mathilda, post bedtime goodbyes, which warms my heart.
Tell us some fun facts about you and/or your family: The girls love sharing that they were both born in NYC. We moved to Denver a few years ago after many years on the East Coast. While we miss the crisp autumns and vibrant summers there, we’ve fully embraced Colorado life - we ski more than we could have imagined and are spoiled to catch mountain sunsets from our location in Wash Park. Peter has taken on competitive mountain and gravel biking so our garage is overflowing with gear. I am trilingual and have dual citizenship so we are looking forward to traveling abroad frequently over the next few years!
