Grade 5: A Royal Graland Tradition

This May, Grade 5 students completed their journey to knighthood, a Graland rite of passage that has connected generations of students for more than 75 years.
Connected to the Grade 5 study of the Middle Ages, Knighting combines history, character development, and service. Throughout the unit, students explored medieval life while designing personal shields, completing acts of kindness and service, and reflecting on the values of honor, leadership, and chivalry.

The experience culminated in each advisory’s secret Knighting ceremony. During the ceremony, students delivered personal reflections on their journey to knighthood, sharing what they learned along the way before being formally presented to the court and recognized as Graland Knights.

Each celebration concluded with a campus procession and a banquet honoring the fifth graders and marking an important milestone in their Graland experience.
