Mitch Masters

History Teacher

Mr. Masters admires his dad, a school principal who helped shape what he believes about education and inspired him to be a teacher. In his free time, Mr. Masters is reading the “brilliant” collected works of Charles Schulz.

Impacting Students
I really enjoy teaching about geography and challenging students' spatial thinking. Also, the lesson on tracking hurricanes brings together a huge variety of skills for students.

Lifelong Learner
I took a course in story mapping last year that really helped me to see more of how GIS systems work and how students can access that information. Geographic information systems teach students to visualize, question, analyze, interpret, and understand data as it relates to geography.

Life Goal
Travel to New Zealand

Outside the Classroom I’m ...
Riding my bike, reading a book, building puzzles or hiking.

Moment in History I’d Want to Experience
Dr. King delivering his "I Have a Dream" speech. He called us to be a better country and to be better people.
