Resident Teacher Mrs. Thomas is a teaching resident for 2018-19 working with a veteran educator, Lisa Ross, and the first grade team. She is passionate about working with children and weaving in fun, theatrical elements into the classroom.
Impacting Students One of my favorite teaching moments was coaching two students to work out their differences on the playground. When they both realized it had been a simple miscommunication, I watched them process that and almost simultaneously take responsibility and apologize to each other. It made my year!
Lifelong Learner I am growing by working with my mentor Lisa Ross and am taking in so much about how kids grow, learn and think; how teachers encourage student agency and get kids really taking charge of their own learning; and just a lot about education and the world of teaching kids in general!
Life Goals Go back to India and work with children again. Teach in Germany (in German!)
Fun Fact Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Thomas previously worked as a voice, speech, dialects and singing coach and a voice-over actor.
