Grade 7: Holiday Fun with Senior Buddies

Seventh graders enjoyed a holiday-themed visit with their senior buddies in December. Building relationships with the older generation is a particular focus in Grade 7 when students also study the science and impact of memory loss issues affecting the elderly, such as Alzheimer's disease.
At Sunrise Senior Living Center students decorated sugar cookies while visiting with residents. In particular, they learned more about Curtis, 90, and his Swedish background. Curtis grew up during the Depression and later went on to travel the world before settling in Denver. Viktor, 101, is a former engineer who now creates beautiful landscape art. Over at Rosemark at Mayfair Park, another group of Graland seventh graders brought scissors and paper to make fun snowflakes for their buddies.

Thank you for spreading holiday cheer!
