Grade 7: Providing A Little Help In Our Community

This October, Grade 7 teamed up with A Little Help, a non-profit organization in Denver that provides opportunities for older adults to thrive through neighborhood connections. While volunteering with A Little Help, students assisted elderly neighbors with a variety of landscaping and home repair projects. According to A Little Help, this volunteerism helps older adults to overcome barriers of living independently in their homes, delays the financial burden of moving to outside facilities, and helps to prevent isolation and loneliness through increased interaction.
Each year, Grade 7 students get the opportunity to form intergenerational connections as part of their service learning project. In addition to their partnership with A Little Help, students also learn discover the science and impact of Alzheimer’s and create memory boxes to honor elderly loved ones. Stay tuned for more stories about their service learning throughout the year.
