1 4 lb. chuck roast
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons oil
1 8 ounces can of tomato sauce
1 cup Cabernet Sauvignon or other dry red wine
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried rosemary

Season the roast with the salt and the pepper. Dredge it on the flour. In a large heavy skillet, heat the oil. Brown the roast on both sides.

Transfer the meat to a slow cooker and add the remaining ingredients.
Simmer on low heat for 6-8 hours.

If desired, the roast may be cooked in a covered roasting pan for 3-4 hours in a 350-degree oven.
