VIDEO: Kindergarten Wrangles Up Fun at the Annual Rodeo

Throughout the year, Graland Kindergarteners explored Colorado’s Western heritage through an interdisciplinary unit woven through literacy, social studies, Tinker Time, art, and music. Field trips to the National Western Stock Show and Urban Farms deepened their learning by giving students firsthand experiences with the animals, people, and practices they had studied in the classroom.

The Kindergarten Rodeo, a cherished Graland tradition, brought the unit to a joyful and memorable close. On Rodeo Day, students, educators, and families arrived in their best Western gear to celebrate. Stick horses in hand, Kindergarteners took the stage to share songs, dances, and jokes—showcasing confidence and pride as they presented their learning to the audience.

The festivities continued with a western-themed field day, organized by the PE department and run by Grade 4 buddies with support from the Grade 8 class—a fitting finale to a meaningful learning experience. Check out the video to relive the memories!
