The Graland Parent Education Network (PEN) and GPA present a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring distinguished alumni Ali Boyd, Sarah Burgamy, Psy.D., and David McMurtry moderated by Josh Cobb. The panelists will share their unique paths to thriving, meaningful careers and pivotal moments of both success and failure along the way. They will also discuss short-term achievement vs. long-term fulfillment, what authentic success looks like for every child, and how we can inoculate them from the pressures of perfection. Ali Boyd (‘94)

Ali Boyd is a consultant and executive coach who facilitates transformative change in leaders, teams, and systems. Bringing both strategic vision and down-to-earth tools, Ali supports clients to thrive and succeed in a complex, changing world. Using a practical, wholehearted, and integrated approach, Ali focuses on improving systemic health to achieve sustainable results. She’s partnered with clients across a range of industries, and has worked with Fortune 500 companies, US governmental agencies, nonprofits, and more. Sarah Burgamy, Psy.D. (‘93) 

Sarah Burgamy, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist and founder of PhoenixRISE, a private practice in Denver, Colorado, with specialty offerings in identity development, sexual minority competency, as well as transgender and gender diverse identities. Dr. Burgamy currently serves as a representative of the Society for the Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity to the American Psychological Association (APA) Council of Representatives and previously served as a member, and 2019 chair, of the APA Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity. She is a past president of Colorado Psychological Association. For her work offering impactful mental health services, Dr. Burgamy received the 2022 Nancy Nye Priest Alumni Award, one of Graland’s highest honors. David McMurtry ('94) 

David McMurtry is a public speaker, coach, motivator, and early childhood educator. His mission is to elevate the Early Childhood Education (ECE) industry and improve access to quality ECE for all children through advocacy and legislation, in service of stronger communities and societies. In 2017, he and his wife opened a Goddard preschool and grew the organization into one of the most successful Goddard schools in the country. In 2023, David and his wife were awarded the Goddard Humanitarian of the Year Award. For his contributions to the community, David received Graland’s 2017 Nancy Nye Priest Alumni award. A dyslexic student, David credits his teachers at Graland with helping him to embrace his learning differences and find a path to success that was true to his unique talents and passions.
