Meet Christine Loeffler: GPA President Q&A

When Christine Loeffler, Graland’s newest GPA president, and her husband, Anthony, a member of the Graland Board of Trustees, were exploring school options for their sons, they were looking for small class sizes, strong academics, and a close-knit community. They chose Graland, and in 2019, their oldest son, Lincoln, began Kindergarten. Their younger son, Preston, soon followed, and this August they’ll be entering Grades 6 and 4.

“Graland felt right from the start,” Christine said. “It reminds me of the show 'Cheers,' where everyone knows your name. The families and educators make it feel familiar and welcoming.”

As GPA president for the 2025–26 school year, Christine is looking forward to helping foster that same sense of belonging for others. Continue reading to learn more about Christine and what’s ahead for the GPA this year.

Q: Where did you grow up, and what brought you to Colorado?

A: “I’m originally from Rhode Island. After graduating from the University of Miami, I moved to Colorado to be near family and to explore everything this state has to offer.”

Q: What inspired you to volunteer for the GPA, and what was your experience like?

A: “A friend encouraged me to get involved and said it would be a great way to meet people. At first, I was nervous. I sat in the back of the meetings. But I often tell people it’s like a TV show. It takes a minute to catch on, and once you learn the characters and the rhythm, you’re hooked. I started attending regularly, met more families and educators, and began volunteering. It’s been incredibly rewarding to help others feel a sense of belonging, too."

Q: What advice would you give to new families at Graland?

A: “Attend the events. They’re the best way to get to know other families and connect with the faculty and staff.”

Q: What are you looking forward to as GPA President this year?

A: “Meeting more people! This role gives me the opportunity to connect with families beyond my children’s grades, including those with older and younger students.”

Q: What might people not know about the GPA?

A: “The number of hours that go into each event. It’s truly inspiring to see parents of all kinds find time to volunteer and make every event meaningful. Each one takes hours of planning, coordination, and preparation, and our parent community shows up again and again to make it all happen.”

Q: Why should community members attend a GPA meeting?

A: “I hear from so many parents that they don’t have time to volunteer, and I completely understand. But just showing up to a GPA meeting is a great way to support the volunteers and the efforts they’re making. It really matters.”

Q: Which upcoming events should everyone be excited about this year?

A: “All of them! It’s hard to choose. Each event offers something special. From the Birch Street Bash for grown-ups to the Community Dinner for families, there’s something for everyone.”

Q: What is your favorite GPA memory?
A: “Running the school store and debuting new merchandise at Movie Night. It was heartwarming to see so many people excited to show off their Graland spirit. Our volunteers were incredible, and it was a wild and crazy two hours of fun. Watching the kids light up over the new gear was the best part.”

Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies and pastimes?

A: “I love playing pickleball and Mahjong. I’m learning to play tennis, which is very humbling! I also enjoy walking my dogs, listening to audiobooks, and reading. I read a ton and am always looking for a great recommendation.”
