Kindergartners spent their Tinker Time in the Gates Lab learning about their role in an inclusive community. After listening to the book The Big Umbrella, by Amy June Bates, students were asked to identify a trait or skill of theirs that contributes positively to their classrooms.
Kindergartners spent their Tinker Time in the Gates Lab learning about their role in an inclusive community. After listening to the book The Big Umbrella, by Amy June Bates, students were asked to identify a trait or skill of theirs that contributes positively to their classrooms. They wrote their names on paper raindrops, adding the word or a drawing to represent their unique qualities, like "kind" and "helper" and "happy." Kindergartners measured and cut a string to tie the drops to a wooden umbrella personalized for each class. Great lesson that also included innovation skills like collaboration, grit/perseverance and empathy!
