Fourth grade teachers, Courtney Menk and Jessica Williams, found a creative way to integrate multiple subject areas into a single project when students recently completed a unit on statistical calculations, analysis and persuasive writing.
Fourth grade teachers, Courtney Menk and Jessica Williams, found a creative way to integrate multiple subject areas into a single project when students recently completed a unit on statistical calculations, analysis and persuasive writing.
For the project, students chose a topic such as visitors at Disney resorts, medals won by Olympians and books published by favorite authors. They researched two different aspects within their chosen topic. In math class, they gathered numerical information and then calculated average, median, mode and range statistics. They then used these findings in language arts class to defend an opinion statement about the two topics in a carefully crafted paragraph. This week, students presented their findings to their classmates through a gallery walk format. Nice job!
