Grade 4: Rhythms of Puerto Rico

In Grade 4 Spanish with Señora Piedad Rodríguez, students learned about the island of Puerto Rico as part of their cultural studies.
As students explored Puerto Rico’s geography, traditions, and music, they also learned about Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny, who performed at the 2026 Super Bowl. To celebrate Puerto Rican culture and connect their learning to a current event, Señora Rodríguez hosted a Puerto Rican Extravaganza during recess.

Students sampled coquito, a traditional Puerto Rican drink, and plantain chips while enjoying music and festive decorations. The celebration included a photo station, beach balls, hula hoops, and inflatable palm trees, giving students an opportunity to experience elements of Puerto Rican culture beyond the classroom.

Through the event, fourth graders connected their language learning to culture, food, and music.
