Grade 8: Bon Appétit! French Cooking Shows

In Grade 8 French class with Madame Cohen, eighth graders filmed cooking shows (entirely in French) that showcased their best French recipes this month!
For the assignment, students selected a dish and wrote a script that included all of the ingredients, utensils, and several vocabulary words, such as préchauffer (to preheat), fouet (a whisk), levure (baking powder), pâte (dough) and moule (a cake pan). After filming their cooking demonstrations, the eighth graders shared their videos and the treats they made with their classmates. In fact, one group that chose to make crème brûlée (watch the video here) not only brought samples but added the finishing touches using a torch in the Gates Innovation Lab! After sampling the treat, Madame Cohen shared that the students' crème brûlée was "just as delicious and authentic as it would be if you enjoyed it at a good French restaurant." Bon appétit!
