At this year’s annual Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day, students treated their guests to a morning chocked-full of the Graland experience. Many of the honored visitors started the day by taking advantage of our pedicab service and riding onto campus in comfort and style.

Guests then enjoyed a catered breakfast, a special performance by the seventh grade choir and an address from Head of School Ronni McCaffrey, who provided an overview of Graland’s new mission statement. She also explained how the school’s revised guiding principles drive students to strive for excellence.

After breakfast, students ushered their special guests to their classes and gave them a close-up look at a typical day for a Graland student. Students were eager to show-off their technology skills. Fifth graders wowed them with iPad demos and kindergartners proved they know how to use computers, too. In other classes, students and their guests practiced foreign language skills, read aloud together and performed in drama classes.

Upon the noon dismissal, the entire Graland community was invited to enjoy dessert and tour the newly opened Anschutz Commons and renovated Hamilton Reiman Building (formerly the Foundations Center). This year’s event was a celebration of the role that grandparents and special friends play in the lives of Graland students!
